STARplex Swim Club are seeking sponsors for the current year.
The STARplex Swim Club, founded in 2000, is an independent community sports club that trains at the STARplex Health & Fitness Centre, Evanston Park, Gawler, between 5.30am-7.30am and 4pm-7.30pm six days per week. Our training facility has in excess of 2500 patrons utilising the swimming pool, and in excess of 8500 patrons attend the facility for a wide range of sporting and fitness activities throughout the week.
It is a very exciting time for the STARplex Swim Club.
We currently have around 50 competitive swimmers ranging from those who have just started in the sport, to a swimmer who recently took part in the Australia Swimming Championships in Sydney, alongside greats like James Magnussen and Christian Sprenger.
39 of our competitive swimmers represented the club at the State Long Course Championships, 9 qualified for the State Open Championships, 3 qualified for the National Age Championships and 1 Qualified for National Open Swimming Championships.
In 2014 of 17 of our swimmers qualified for, and attended the Victorian Age Championships in Melbourne. Of these swimmers, 6 qualified for finals in a number of events and 2 added to, or obtained, National Age qualifying times to go to the Nationals in Sydney in April 2015.
James McKechnie 22 yrs gained finals places at the 2014 Australian Swimming Championships. James finished in overall 6th place in the 200m Breaststroke, 6th in the 100m Breaststroke and 10th in the 50m Breaststroke. James has been awarded a part scholarship with SASI (South Australian Sports Institute).
Our young people stand out as leaders amongst their peers, their sport requires them to be dedicated, determined, and self disciplined. Lifelong friendships and strong team morale grow out of the shared experience of daily training and tough competition.
