The STARplex Squad Program is managed by the STARplex Swim School, who are responsible for delivery of the program, employment of our coaches, managing the timetable and collecting squad training fees. Mini Squad
Coaches – Swim School Coaching staff
Learning aims and commitment:
- How to read the pace clock
- Lane etiquette
- How to read a swim program
- Underwater streamlining
- Improve stroke technique, endurance and prepare for competitive swimming
- Swimmers are encouraged to swim 2-3 x 45 minutes sessions per week
Swimmers in this squad should consider joining the STARplex Swim club, to take part in club championships and club events, award nights, and access to purchase the club uniform and in order to compete at carnivals on the Swimming SA Calendar.
Non club members can attend Club Championship as a Come and Try Swimmer
State Development Squad
Coach – Mackenzie Lienert
Entry point into the competitive stream of swimming.
Learning aims and commitment:
- Aiming to learn and develop into a competitive swimmer with competent racing skills
- Attendance at wet and dry land activation as set out by the Coach
- Learning how to train
- Introduction to racing skills
- Willingness to progress to State level
- Minimum attendance 3 times a week, 10 session times to choose from
- Training kit – fins, snorkel, kick board, water bottle
Swimmers in this squad are required join the STARplex Swim Club
State Squad
Coach – Joshua Palmer
Learning aims and commitment:
- Ability to train and compete at State level
- Attendance at wet and dry land activation as set out by the Coach
- Willingness to improve racing skills through training and racing
- Commitment to progressing to the next level of training at the appropriate time
- Minimum attendance 4-6 sessions a week, 7 session times to choose from
- Training kit – fins, snorkel, pull buoy, kick board, water bottle
Swimmers in this squad are required join the STARplex Swim Club
National Development Squad
Coach – Alex Palmer
Learning aims and commitment:
- Compulsory attendance at wet and dryland sessionsas set out by the Head Coach
- Ability to learn how to perform at a high level having already achieved at State level
- Commitment to progressing to the next level of training at the appropriate time
- Goals and aspirations of representing STARplex at a National level
- Minimum attendance 5-7 sessions a week, 7 session times to choose from
- Training kit – fins, paddles, snorkel, pull buoy, kick board, water bottle
Swimmers in this squad are required join the STARplex Swim Club
National Squad
Coach – Alex Palmer
Learning aims and commitment:
- Exceptional performance at the highest level
- Compulsory attendance at wet and dryland sessionsas set out by the Head Coach
- Willingness to embrace various activities and learning experiences (such as sports psychology, gym, nutrition)
- An understanding of the importance of the overall wellbeing of the self in relation to performance
- Minimum attendance 7-9 sessions a week, 9 session times to choose from
- Training kit – fins, paddles, snorkel, pull buoy, kick board, water bottle
